What is In‑Stock?

You want to buy something - but before you head off to the shop, ask someone using the app if your item is there. Correct size? Correct colour? On sale or not? How many are left in your size?

Now you can decide when to head off: maybe now if there are only a few left, maybe on the weekend when you’re picking up more things from your local shopping centre.

If you can’t get there right away and stock is limited, ask the person who checked for you to put the item on hold at the checkout desk or with customer service.

How it works

For Shoppers

Post the item you’re after, and a real person in a real store checks the shelf for you.

  1. Post your request. Tell us the item, the store, and the location. Add a photo or product link if you have one. Choose if you want a check, or check and place on hold.
  2. A Stock Checker accepts your request. A nearby Stock Checker picks up your request and heads to the store. You can see when it’s been accepted and the 30-minute stock check countdown has started.
  3. You get your answer. Photos, availability, and current price, straight from the store floor. Stock Checkers can ask you questions if they have any queries.
  4. Payment happens automatically. Everything is handled digitally in the app. No cash, no awkwardness. Your Checker is paid once the check is complete.
  5. Leave a review. Let others know about your Stock Check experience.

For Stock Checkers

The shops you already walk through are about to start paying you back. No shifts, no minimums, no boss - just pick up stock checks when they suit you.

  1. Browse requests. Open the app and you’ll see requests near you, with the store name, address and item details.
  2. Accept. Accept the ones nearby or where you’re already headed - you have 30 minutes to complete your check.
  3. Find the item. The shopper’s request tells you exactly what to look for, including size, colour and product codes.
  4. Snap and confirm. Take a quick photo and confirm availability and price. If the shopper asked for a hold, ask staff to put it aside in their name.
  5. Get paid. Payment lands as soon as the check is complete. Item not in stock? You still get paid - “it’s not there” is an answer.

One flat fee per stock check request, handled securely in the app. No cash changes hands, and your Stock Checker is paid automatically once the check is done.

If the item isn’t there, you’ll still get a photo and confirmation from the shelf - knowing something is out of stock before you drive across town is exactly the trip you wanted to skip. If your request isn’t fulfilled within 30 days, you’re automatically refunded.

Every stock check earns you $2, processed automatically when the check is completed. No invoicing, no chasing, no cash. Earnings accrue in the app and are paid out automatically once a month.

About us

What’s the story behind this app?

So this is a funny story. I’m a stay-at-home mum and thought I could save some money when I needed to buy stockings for my kids as part of their school uniform. Sure, I could buy the school one - at twice the price of comparable navy blue stockings at Target. Twice the price!

Off I go to my local Target store. No size.

Then I go to another one further away. No size.

Still again, I go to another one even further away - and I finally find it.

I thought there must be an easier way to do this. And so this idea was born: a way for anyone in a shopping centre to be a person that can look for you.
